Fire in train compartment triggers panic at rly station

Ludhiana: A fire broke out in one of the compartments in Ludhiana-Hisar train stationed at platform number 4 at Ludhiana railway station on Saturday. The fire triggered panic among passengers, but nobody was injured in the incident. The fire was brought under control soon.
The train was supposed to depart for Hisar at 3.20pm. The exact reason behind the fire was still not known.
ADGP Gurpreet Kaur was expected to carry out checking at the station, due to which the police officials were taking a round when the incident occured. The onlookers gathered around platform number 4. Cops saw flames coming out of a train’s compartment. The GRP and RPF officials swung into action and started dousing the flames. The vendors at the platform too joined in and brought water to control the fire. The fire extinguishers were used to control the fire.
DSP Balram Rana and inspector Jaskaran Singh shared that as soon as they got to know about the fire incident, the cops were alerted who doused flames with the help of water available at the station. The initial probe has highlighted that some commuter threw burning cigarette in the compartment that caused the fire.
