Two workers charred to death as fire breaks out in shop

Chennai: Two people died in a fire that broke out in a shops on Greams Road in the Thousand Lights area.
The fire broke out in a shop on the second floor of a complex around 3am on Sunday due to a short circuit. The deceased were identified as G Gopinath, 34, and S Satyamurthy, 41, both residents of New Washermenpet. Since the shop is closed on weekends, the duo had gone for some work on Saturday morning. They decided to stay back and continue work on Sunday too.The two were asleep when the fire spread and could not get out of the shop in time and were charred to death.
Passersby saw the smoke coming out of the shop and informed the police and the fire department. The boodies were recovered and sent for postmortem. tnn
