Lucknow: A fire caused due to a short circuit destroyed the entire chamber of Bhawani Singh Khangarot, the managing director of Gokhale Vihar Marg based Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited. However, all important documents are safe. After the incident, MD called for a probe. A chief engineer level officer would investigate the matter. It’s not clear as to when was the last time a fire safety audit of the MVVNL office was conducted. Speaking to TOI, MVVNL MD Bhawani Singh Khangarot said, “Prima facie it looks like that short circuit triggered the fire. After cleaning my office, the staff sitting in the adjacent room spotted smoke following which prompt actions were taken and the fire department too was informed.” “No important document was destroyed in the fire and neither was anyone injured,” he said. Chief Fire Officer, Lucknow, Vijay Kumar Singh, said, “Fire was caused by a short-circuit and in 30 minutes it was doused off.” tnn
