ATM catches fire in Thalaivasal

Salem: An ATM kiosk caught fire at Thalaivasal in Salem district on Saturday. The preliminary inquiry revealed that the fire caused due to an electricity short circuit.
Passersby noticed thick smoke emanating from the ATM centre near Thalaivasal bus stand around 10.30am on Saturday. Immediately, one of them informed the fire department. Fire and rescue personnel reached the spot and put out the fire after an hour of struggle. Meanwhile, bank officials were also informed. A group of bank officials inspected the spot. They said details of cash in the ATM will be known after checking the machine and its locker. TNN
