Fire in garment shop, goods worth lakhs destroyed

Indore: A fire was reported in a garment shop in Aada Bazaar area of Rajwada late Saturday night.
The fire started at around 1 am on first floor of Kalpana gown house. Locals informed the police and fire brigade as fire spread rapidly in the shop that was stocked with lot of inflammable goods.
Dense, acrid smoke emitted from the shop as two fire tenders battled the blaze for several hours. The fire was controlled before it could spread to the adjoining areas. Goods worth lakhs were estimated to have been gutted.
Thirty-five persons were evacuated from a nearby residential building as a precautionary measure.
“Two fire tenders used 300 litres of water to douse the flames in about five hours,” SP (Fire) RS Nigwal said.
