Nagpur: Godown of ice cream and frozen dessert products manufacturer Kwality Wall’s, located in timber market area in Central Nagpur, was gutted in a major fire early on Tuesday morning. Though initial estimates put the loss at Rs90 lakh, no casualty was reported, said fire officials.
At around 4.55am, NMC’s fire and emergency services department received a call of fire at Heera Agency cold storage situated on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Road. Four fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the inferno. It took almost two hours for the firefighters to completely douse the blaze, but by then goods worth Rs90 lakh were gutted.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, they said.
Two four-wheelers used for transporting ice cream were also reduced to ashes, said fire officials.
Tenant of the cold storage was Hemant Girish Chandak, said the officials, who further claimed they managed to save goods worth Rs20 lakh.
