Man dies as airconditioner explodes in Chennai

CHENNAI: A 28-year-old man died after an air conditioner exploded at his house in Chennai’s Thiru Vi Ka Nagar on Sunday night.
Fire and rescue services personnel said the air conditioner might have exploded due to a short circuit.
The deceased has been identified as P Shyam, who was running a milk shop in the area. Shyam was on the ground floor of the house while his father, Prabhakar, was on the first floor.
Around 8pm, Prabhakar heard a blast from the ground floor. He went downstairs and saw his son’s room on fire.
On information, police and fire and rescue personnel from Sembium and Madhavaram rushed to the spot. They put out the fire and recovered the charred body of Shyam. They sent the body to Kilpauk Medical College (KMC) Hospital for postmortem.
Shyam married Dhanalakshmi, 24, six months ago. She was in her parents’ home on Sunday night.
Police have registered a case.
