Gas cylinders explode in eatery, 3 hurt in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Three workers of King’s Restaurant in Mehdipatnam were injured when gas cylinders exploded at the eatery on Wednesday afternoon.
The impact of the explosion ripped off the rear walls of the eatery, but luckily none of the customers or people in the neighbouring commercial establishments were hurt.
According to police, around 2 pm there were two explosions, with the second one bringing down the rear wall and exposing the kitchen to passersby in the adjacent lane. The front glass panes of the restaurant remained intact.
“After the first explosion, which was minor, all customers and staff came out of the restaurant. Two workers, Shibu and Fayaz, suffered burns, but they are out of danger. Another worker suffered minor injuries. The second explosion caused maximum damage to the rear of the restaurant where the kitchen is,” Asif Nagar inspector Ch Srinivas told the media.
A fire tender was rushed to the spot which put out the fire quickly.
