Chandigarh: 2 workers injured as fire breaks out in factory

PANCHKULA: A major fire broke out in a plywood factory in Industrial Area, Phase I, on Sunday, leaving two workers injured.
Fire department officials said they received an emergency call from Stylam Industries in plot number 192-193 of Industrial Area at 7am. Five fire tenders were rushed to the spot. They took over four hours to control the blaze. The last vehicle returned to the fire department at 11.30 pm after completing the operation.
The fire department officials said the fire took place on ground and first floor of the unit having sawdust. The two injured workers were taken to General Hospital, Sector 6, from where they were referred to PGI, Chandigarh, considering their serious injuries.
Factory manager Sahil Singla said workers detected sparking in one of the machineries that triggered the fire. No major loss to the factory or any machinery was reported.
