Kolkata: Evening fires hit Dalhousie bank, Writers’
Updated: 2022-08-17
KOLKATA: Two fires broke out within a span of a few hours in the Dalhousie area, one on the ground floor of Writers’ Buildings on Tuesday evening and the other at the ground floor of the building housing IDBI Bank’s Dalhousie branch on Brabourne Road around 10.40pm.
The Writers’ fire was brought under control within a short time. As major departments have been shifted out of Writers’ Buildings, there weren’t many employees inside. Three fire tenders arrived after the fire was reported, but the fire was doused by the first tender.
Officials said the fire was spotted at the office of the home department’s foreigners and NRI section located close to the ground floor gate on the RBI side. Officials are yet to find out if any documents were damaged. Forensic officials are likely to visit the spot on Wednesday.
Four fire tenders responded to the second fire. Till reports last came in, the fire was under control and cooling operations are expected to begin soon.
