KANPUR: A major fire broke out in a thatched house at Majra Kapur farm of Katri Domanpur in Maharajpur police area of the district on Wednesday afternoon.
The cause of the fire was the leakage of a gas cylinder in the house of one Nanku. Rama (55) of the village suffered burn injuries. He has been admitted to the Community Health Centre in Sarsaul.
After two hours of exercise, the villagers managed to control the fire, but by then the entire household was reduced to ashes. Inspector Maharajpur Satish Rathore said that the thatched house caught fire due to the leakage followed by explosion in an LPG cylinder.
“The entire house and the household items were gutted in the fire. A villager got minor burns due to a cylinder explosion. He is undergoing treatment at Sarsaul CHC,” the inspector further said.
