Andhra Pradesh: Two die in fire accident

KAKINADA: Two persons were killed and seven others sustained severe injuries in a fire accident that took place in a sugar refinery factory in Kakinada district in Andhra Pradesh on Friday.
Fire broke out due to a suspected short circuit in Parry Sugars Refinery India Private Limited situated in Kakinada Industrial area in Vakalapudi village in Kakinada district. Fire broke out at the conveyor belt through which sugar is loaded. In this factory, raw sugar is transformed into refined sugar. Talking to the TOI, Kakinada SP Ravindranath Babu said that the injured persons are getting treatment in various hospitals in Kakinada and one person sustained severe burn injuries. He said that the fire department and electricity departments will find out the exact cause of the accident. He made it clear that strict action would be taken on those responsible for this accident.
Former agriculture minister Kurasala Kanna Babu said that the compensation would be given to the bereaved families through the industry. He added that electricity, pollution and industries departments have been directed to conduct inspections with regard to the safety of the factory.
