Gurugram: 3 vehicles charred as transformer explodes in Sikanderpur
Updated: 2022-08-20
GURUGRAM: Three vehicles – an Ertiga and two Renault Duster – were completely charred after a transformer allegedly caught fire and exploded in the open area of a commercial complex in Sikanderpur on Friday. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
Eye-witnesses said that the transformer installed in the open area of Jagmohan Complex behind the City Court building in Sikanderpur caught fire while it was being repaired.
It soon fell to the ground and exploded.
Six of the nine vehicles parked in the open area also caught fire.
A fire tender was soon pressed into service and the flames were doused within half an hour.
However, as the road remained blocked, it led to a traffic jam in the area.
Narender Bohara, a local trader, said, “We were inside the shop when we heard the explosion. Initially we thought it was a bomb blast.”
Gurugram police spokesperson Subhash Boken said that an FIR will be registered for the damage caused to the vehicles.
