HYDERABAD: It was a close shave for workers of a pharmaceutical-related factory in Jeedimetla after fire broke out on Monday. Seven people were hurt. There were 25 people working at the unit but quick rescue by staff ensured that all of them managed to get out.
“As per company authorities, the seven employees were hurt after one reactor burst into flames and the fire spread to them,” station fire officer V Subhash Reddy told TOI, adding that the seven suffered 10-15% burns but were out of danger.
Fire department officials said that they received the call at 9 am, but even before the fire tender reached the spot all the injured were shifted to a hospital.
The fire fighting took place in different spells as there were three blasts in the reactors at various intervals. It took four fire tenders nearly five hours to finally douse the fire.
