Chennai: Fire at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital

CHENNAI: A minor fire broke out at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGH) early on Saturday. No casualties were reported. According to police, the fire broke out at the Covid-19 special ward at 3.30am.
The panicked staff and public rushed out of the building. Five patients were undergoing treatment in the ward. A few security personnel and staff quickly evacuated the patients wearing PPE kits to another floor. “The fire started from an air conditioning unit due to short circuit,” a senior police officer. The fire was put out by fire and rescue services personnel.
