Predawn fire hits used clothing store near Baclaran Church
Updated: 2012-09-13-07:29
For several moments, traffic near the Baclaran Church in Parañaque City was disrupted due to a fire that hit a three-story building housing a used-clothing shop before dawn Thursday.
No one was initially reported injured in the fire that damaged the shop along Quirino Avenue,” radio dzBB’s Rodil Vega reported.
But the fire forced the closure of a part of Quirino Avenue near the corner of Airport Road, as fire trucks were parked there.
An initial investigation showed the fire started at about 3:45 a.m. and reached the first alarm. It was put out at 4:50 a.m.
The report said the occupants of the building managed to evacuate.
Arson investigators are still determining what caused the fire, though they had determined it started at the back portion of the building’s ground floor.
Damage to property was initially estimated at P100,000.
Thursday’s fire came a week after a two-day fire hit the Tutuban Mall in Manila’s Divisoria area. — LBG, GMA News
