NEW DELHI: Delhi Police on Tuesday registered a case of negligence in the fire incident that took place in the Chandni Chowk area on Sunday night. The case was registered under sections 285 (negligent conduct with respect to fire or combustible matter) and 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) of IPC at Kotwali police station.
Police suspect that the fire started at a shop located on the ground floor of a three-storey building because of a short circuit. However, an investigation is going on to ascertain the exact cause. DCP (north) Sagar Singh Kalsi said no one was injured in the incident.
According to the fire department, four fire tenders were deployed at the site till Tuesday evening to control small fires. Local traders said that wind and combustible materials were regularly igniting the small fires.
