48 farm fires in Haryana since September 15

KARNAL: Amid the efforts of the state government, Haryana witnessed 48 cases of stubble burning (active fire location) since September 15.
The number is double as compared to 24 cases reported during the corresponding period last year.
On Wednesday, 24 fresh cases of burning were reported by the Haryana Space Applications Centre (Harsac). So far, such cases have been reported from 10, out of 22, districts in the state.
The maximum active fire locations were reported from Kurukshetra district (16), followed by Karnal (14), Kaithal (5), Ambala (6), Jind (4), two each from Panipat and Kaithal, and one each from Fatehabad, Palwal, Yamunanagar, and Sonipat.
Karnal agriculture department SDO Dinesh Sharma said,” Active fire locations are being verified. Strict action will be taken against the violators as per government guidelines. Also, making farmers aware of the ill effects of stubble burning”.
