Popular home decor shop gutted in fire

VADODARA: A popular home decor showroom caught fire in the crowded Nava Bazaar area of the old city on Thursday morning.
Fire brigade vans reached the spot within a few minutes and began operations to douse the flames. No one was injured in the incident but the entire showroom went up in flames.
According to fire officials, smoke began bellowing out of the third floor of the four-storey Khandelwal Dev Home Attraction showroom. All the employees rushed out of the building in time but there was panic in the area as all the shops are located very close to each other.
The street was closed for traffic and power lines were disconnected for safety purposes. The showroom was full of home decor stock as Diwali is approaching and owners are believed to have suffered losses of up to Rs 40 lakh. Fire brigade officials said that they were trying to ascertain the reason behind the fire.
