One hurt as fire engulfs godown

Coimbatore: A major fire broke out in a godown at Karattumedu near Kovilpalayam here on Friday evening.
Police said R Kumar, 40, from the area, stocked six barrels of paint thinner there. “Kumar sells paint thinner. On Friday, Kumar and Prabhu, a labourer, were working at the godown. Suddenly, the fire broke out. They tried to put it out, but in vain. As the fire spread, they came out. Soon after, an explosion occurred inside the godown. Kumar suffered minor injuries,” a police officer said. When informed, fire and rescue services personnel extingushed the fire after a two-hour struggle. tnn
