Fire breaks out at 2-storey building in Ghaziabad, youth rescued

GHAZIABAD: A 20-year-old youth was rescued after a fire broke out in an LED light manufacturing unit in Ghaziabad industrial area. The cause of the fire is being investigated but no casualty was reported, fire department officials said.
The incident happened in a two-storey building in the industrial area. The ground floor had some shops, the LED manufacturing unit was located on the first floor and the second floor was empty. Over five fire tenders were sent to douse the flames and it took them over three hours to control the situation, officials said.
According to the fire department, the incident was reported around 7.34pm on Sunday and immediately three fire tenders were sent to control the situation. Later two more fire tenders were called.
Chief fire officer Sunil Kumar Singh said that when the building caught fire a labourer, Ankit Kumar (20), was on the manufacturing unit’s premises. Within a few minutes, the fire spread from the ground floor till the second floor. “We rescued Ankit using wet clothes,” he said.
