Pushed out of jagran, man returns & sets store on fire in Gurugram
Updated: 2022-11-14
GURUGRAM: A man, who was slapped and asked to leave a jagran as he was drunk, returned the next day and allegedly set fire to a furniture store owned by one of those who had pushed him out. The accused, identified as Honey, has been booked.
Parmeshwar Kumar, the owner of Yashika Old Furniture at Nayi Basti, had organised the jagran on November 5. “My friends and I had organised the puja at a house in Arjun Nagar. All of a sudden, Honey entered the house drunk. He was asked to leave, but he did not listen any of us. This also led to a verbal spat,” Kumar said in the FIR.
As things heated up, someone from the devotees slapped Honey and pushed him out of the event.
The next day, Kumar got to know that someone had set his store on fire. “By the time I reached there, the police and fire brigade had already doused the flames. Many furniture items, refrigerators and laptops were gutted. I had initially thought that short-circuit had led to the blaze. On November 7, someone informed me that it was Honey who had set fire to my shop. I checked CCTV footage of the nearby areas and found the allegations to be true,” he said in the FIR.
The police received the complaint on Friday. “Initially, he did not suspect anyone. Only when he checked the CCTV footage did he come to know that Honey had set his store on fire. We are also checking the clips and have formed teams to investigate the matter,” said Salender Kumar, the SHO of New Colony police station.
Kumar said on Saturday that a case under sections 427 (mischief causing damage) and 436 (mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to destroy house, etc) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) had been registered against the accused.
