Fire engulfs shop, flat in Margao

Panaji: Fire and emergency personnel doused a major fire on Saturday morning at Aquem Baixo in Margao, near the military camp, averting a major tragedy.
No casualties or injured persons were reported.
The fire began in a furniture shop filled with cushions. The floor above, a residential flat, was also gutted. There were no occupants in the flat when it caught fire.
A four-wheeler and three two-wheelers were also gutted.
It took 10 fire fighters and two fire tenders nearly two hours to douse the fire.
