Noida: Fire at plastic factory doused after 10 hours

NOIDA: A plastic factory burnt to ashes after a fire broke out in the Kasna area early on Saturday. Initial investigation revealed that the fire broke out due to a short circuit in a panel. No one was injured in it.
The chief fire officer (CFO) Pradeep Kumar said they received the information about the blaze at 12.37am on Saturday. “The fire started on the ground floor of the polycarbonate byproduct factory. Initially, five fire tenders were rushed to the spot but later 10 more were pressed in, looking at the intensity of the fire,” he added.
The flames were brought under control after nearly 10 hours. “As many as 40 people were inside the factory at the time of the incident but everyone escaped unhurt. Workers told us that they were carrying out some testing on the panel on the ground floor and a short circuit took place in it. Within no time, the fire spread on the first floor as well,” stated Kumar.
The fire department is yet to assess the damage to the factory.
Meanwhile, police haven’t received any complaint in the matter so far.
This year, the fire department carried out inspections of commercial areas in the city to check if safety norms are being followed. Subsequently, notices were issued to several establishments as their fire safety systems were not up to the mark, officials said.
