KHOTANG: The wildfire that started last Wednesday has destroyed 4,000 hectare forest at three community forests in Khotang VDC in Khotang. The bush fire has also turned wild lives and birds into ash. After four days’ incessant efforts, the fire in three forests was brought under control on Sunday. Wildfire had swept forests at Madhkhela, Chainpur and Khotangpakga community forests. The wildfire had put the tower of Sky mobile and Namaste at risk.
Girl burns to death
JHAPA: A 20-year-old girl burned to death after a wildfire spread at Kankai Community Forest in Surunga, Jhapa, on Sunday. The fire spread near the local Bhimsenthan Temple, said police. The deceased is yet to be identified. Police, locals and fire engine from Damak and Mechinagar brought the blaze under control, said DSP Bhubaneshwor Tiwari. The reason behind the blaze is yet to be ascertained.
