Fire breaks out at yarn mill in Tamil Nadu’s Dindigul

DINDIGUL: A fire broke out at a private yarn mill at Saminathapuram near Palani in Tamil Nadu’s Dindigul district on Monday.
According to sources, the fire broke out at the mill at around 7am after oils kept near the boiler unit suddenly caught fire. Though workers nearby tried to put it out, the fire spread and the boiler unit burst.
On being alerted, fire and rescue services department personnel reached the spot to extinguish the fire.
Huge clouds of smoke were seen emerging.
More than 500 workers were employed at the mill. Timely evacuation ensured no one was injured in the fire accident.
Police are investigating the incident.
