Family burnt to death in Chittagong

A couple and two of their daughters have been burnt to death in Chittagong’s Lohargara.
The fire broke out at Adhurnagar village in the Upazila around 3.30am on Thursday, said Lohagara Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Shahjahan.
Md Rahim, 45, his wife Masuma, 33, and their daughters Lucky, 13, and Reshma, 8 died on the spot.
Locals put out the fire before police reached the scene, the OC said. The charred bodies were recovered later.
“Probably an improperly disposed lit cigarette sparked the fire at night. No one could get out of the burning house in time,” Shahjahan said.
