Two firefighters injured battling massive blaze in 60-storey Mumbai residential building

Updated: 2022-12-15

MUMBAI: Two firefighters were injured while batting a massive blaze that erupted on the 22nd floor of a multi-story residential building in Currey Road area of central Mumbai on Thursday morning.
The injured firemen have been identified as Ramdas Shivram Sanas (37) and Mahesh Patil (26).
Fire brigade officials said that the blaze was in a flat on the 22nd floor of 60-storey One Avighna Park. Motorists moving along the road opposite the building said that they initially saw only smoke emit from one of the floors and latter flames began to erupt.
People from the 19th-23rd floor of the 60-storey tower were being brought down by fireman through the building .

One of the residents, who also complained of smoke inhalation, was rushed to Wockhardt Hospital in Mumbai Central.
Dr Virendra Chauhan, center head of the hospital, said, “A 26-year-old patient came to Wockhardt Hospital in the morning with complaints of smoke inhalation. The Patient was treated and stabilised in the emergency department, by afternoon her vitals were normal and she was discharged from the hospital”.

Last year, a blaze at the same One Avighna Park on October 22 had killed one (Security guard). The cause of the blaze then was stated as a short circuit in the main electrical distribution board of the 19th floor flat number 1902.
A chilling video of the 30-year-old security guard hanging from the 19th floor and falling to his death from the blaze site went viral on social media.
