17-year-old girl killed in fire at Ahmedabad’s Orchid Greens building

AHMEDABAD: A 17-year-old girl died in fire at 11-storey Orchid Greens building in Shahibaug area of Ahmedabad, on Saturday.
A deceased girl has been identified as Pranjal alias Prachi.
She was sleeping in the bedroom from where the fire broke out. She was rushed to the private hospital, however, she died during treatment.
The incident took place on the eight floor of the building. Fire brigade team rushed to the spot and doused the blaze.
Two others, who were present in the house, managed to escape without any burn injuries and informed the fire brigade team.
Chief fire officer J V Kakadiya said that the fire team reached the spot and found that the high rise building had fire safety equipment.
He added that a girl was locked in the room and the bedroom on the eight floor was broken to rescue her before shifting to hospital.
