Fire outbreak at storage facility
Updated: 2014-04-16
A FIRE broke out at a storage facility of an interior design company in Kg Bunut yesterday, as Fire and Rescue Department personnels from Bandar Seri Begawan aided by Beribi Fire Station personnel were rushed to the scene.
The Fire and Rescue Department received the distress call at 10.45am and managed to control the fire by 11.05am.
Despite controlling the fire successfully, Fire and Rescue personnel continued to hose down the charred remains, which included carpets and curtains among others, as smoke continued to billow from the burnt carpets.
According to a Fire and Rescue officer, hosing down burnt items was a necessary precaution while awaiting excavator machines to help removing and segregating the burnt items to cool down the core, which otherwise may rekindle the fire.
Fifteen personnel from Bandar Seri Begawan Fire Station and eight from Beribi Fire were on location to handle to incident, led by the Operational A Command Commanding Officer.
The cause and estimated loss are still under investigation.
