Indore: Health authorities to issue new notice for fire NOC
Updated: 2023-02-05
INDORE: District health authorities, after carrying out an exercise to issue notice to around 200 facilities for fire No-objection certificate attracting little response, are again planning to repeat the process to accommodate changes in norms brought about in mid-January.
The authorities received details about changes in norms for fire NOC requirements on January 16. The new norms mandated fire NOC for facilities with at least 50 beds or hospital buildings with 15 meter or more height or 500 square meter construction on any level.
The rest of the facilities have to get a fire safety certificate from government empanelled auditors by applying on e-Nagarpalika website.
CMHO Dr BS Saitya told TOI, “The exercise to sort out facilities based on amended rules for fire NOC is going on. The hospital/facilities would be issued new notices under it.”
About how much would come in ambit of new rules, Dr Saitya said, “At the moment, it can’t be told as the sorting is yet to be done. But the notice would be issued to the facilities very soon.”
Interestingly, the authorities have issued notices to around 200 private facilities in November last year to fire NOC till December 25 or to face cancellation of registration.
Despite the notices, less than 40 facilities provided details to the health authorities or submitted the fire NOC certificate. The rest skipped notices. The authorities can’t act against a single facility in the district and waited for new norms.
Now, they are hiding behind new norms and claiming to issue new norms. The focus on fire NOC and its requirements came into the limelight after a fire incident in Jabalpur hospital in August last year. The authorities issued two notices to a bunch of those facilities but most of them skipped notice and no action was taken, showed records. TNN
