Major fire in Umargam GIDC unit

Surat: A massive fire broke out in Sohoni Metal Craft unit in Umargam GIDC of Valsad on Saturday.
Four fire tenders and a team of around 40 firemen along with police were working to control the blaze. No casualty was reported till late in the night.
The fire-fighting teams from Umargam GIDC, Sarigam GIDC, Vapi and Daman were called.
“No casualties have been reported till now. The teams are ensuring that the fire does not spread further,” said a police officer. “We called all the fire fighters from the nearby location and teams are continuosly working to douse the blaze,” he said. The operation was expected to continue till late night.
