Fire hits commercial property in Sucat, Parañaque
Updated: 2023-02-06
A fire broke out at a commercial property in Sucat, Parañaque City on Sunday night.
The said fire in Barangay San Antonio was reported at first alarm before 11 p.m., according to a report by Bam Alegre on Unang Balita on Monday.
However, it quickly grew, prompting the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) to raise the fifth alarm within minutes.
The fire eventually reached up to Task Force Bravo, which meant at least 19 firetrucks are required.
Firemen had difficulty putting out the fire since the water supply in the area was not sufficient.
The fire spread to the neighboring commercial property.
Workers staying in at the commercial property where the fire broke out were able to evacuate the area and all are accounted for.
The fire was finally contained past 4 a.m. on Monday. However due to the extent of the fire, the BFP could not yet declare “fire out”.
BFP Senior Superintendent Douglas Guiyab said the fire started from the workers’ barracks at the east-west side of the warehouse.
The 25,000-square meter warehouse stocked lumber thus the fire quickly spread, he added.
Guiyab said they had to get water supply from other cities to augment the low water supply in the area.
The BFP said the property damage is estimated to be more or less P20 million.
As of 1:25 p.m. on Monday, the fire is still ongoing at the site on Dr. A. Santos Avenue, and Task Force Bravo is still in effect, the BFP said.
A total of 37 firetrucks have so far responded to the disaster. —KG, GMA Integrated News
