1 killed as fire breaks out in slums of Mumbai’s Malad

MUMBAI: A 12-year-old boy was killed after a massive fire broke out in the slums of Malad area of Mumbai on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Prem Tukaram Bore.
“The fire was confined to 50 to 100 hutments. It was a ‘level-two’ (major) fire,” an official said.
According to the official, eight fire engines, four jumbo tankers, ambulance and other assistance were sent to the spot.
“Two hose lines were in operation to control the blaze,” the official said.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
