Kolkata: Two fires in residential buildings at Lake Town & Chinar Park, none hurt

KOLKATA: A fire broke out in a flat on the fourth-floor of a building at the VIP Tower housing complex in Lake Town on Thursday.
The security guards of the complex and the fire brigade personnel evacuated all the residents from the building. None was reportedly injured in the fire.
Three fire engines were pressed into the service to douse the blaze, which was controlled in half an hour.
Some residents and security guards noticed smoke billowing out of the building and they raised an alarm.
Officials suspect that an oil lamp in the puja room might have caused the fire at the flat, which was covered with thick smoke.
Meanwhile, another fire was reported from a furniture showroom on the ground floor of a residential building in Chinar Park in the afternoon. The flames leapt up and scared the residents living in the same building.
The residents rushed out of the building and informed the fire brigade about the matter. The fire officials controlled the blaze in a short time. The officials said none was injured in the fire.
