Updated: 2014-04-27-23:20
JHAPA: Two persons were burnt to death mysteriously at Damak Municipality in Jhapa today afternoon. Seventeen-year-old Binita Khatiwada and twenty-two-year-old Saroj Khadka died at Binita’s house in the municipality in a fire, said inspector Chiranjibi Dahal of Area Police Office, Damak. Both Khatiwada and Khadka were neighbours. Villagers said the incident took place at around 3:15 pm today and there were no other family members in the house. Some of the locals tried to rescue them from the blaze but in vain. Police said the smell of kerosene came from the room and suspected they might have committed suicide after sprinkling kerosene on their bodies. An eyewitness said that the incident was mysterious as the door of the room was open and the boy was tied with a rope on his wrist. Inspector Dahal said the fact behind the incident would come out soon after investigation. The bodies have been taken to Mechi Zonal Hospital, Bhadrapur for post-mortem.
