Fire breaks out in slums of Mumbai’s Kamla Nagar

MUMBAI: A major fire broke out in Dharavi area of Mumbai in the early hours of Wednesday. The fire started in the Kamala Nagar slums and spread across hutments, godowns, bakery and garment factories.
It took around four hours to bring the fire under control, which started around 4.15am. While the Mumbai Fire Brigade announced it as a level III fire, no injuries were reported.
Several two, three and four-floor structures were gutted in the fire. As many as 12 fire engines and eight jumbo tankers were deployed for dousing the fire.
While the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, it was confined to the electric wiring, electric installations, clothes, papers, garments in the factories and household articles.
The fire at Dharavi’s Kamala Nagar, prompted the Mumbai traffic place to close the 90-feet road and divert the traffic to Santh Rohidas Marg.
“Instead of going to the 60-feet road from the T Junction, the traffic has been diverted to Raheja Mahim”, mentioned a tweet by the Mumbai Traffic Police.
