Fire breaks out at restaurant in Thane, three injured

THANE: Three staff members of a restaurant suffered minor injuries while they were being rescued after a fire broke out in their facility at Ghodbunder road, officials informed. The civic rescue teams managed to remove around seven LPG cylinders from the facility in time before a major portion of the structure was gutted down within minutes.
Officials informed that the incident occurred around 7am at Shree Sai restaurant located at Waghbil naka possibly due to a short circuit fire that promptly spread through the facility without being noticed initially. While other staff members promptly escaped out of the facility, three members who were sleeping inside were trapped following which the rescue teams arrived, officials said.
“The staff members were trapped inside the structure and suffered minor injuries when they were evacuated. Our teams managed to remove the cylinders in time else it could have led to a bigger mishap as the fire had engulfed a notable part of the restaurant. There were no casualties,” informed Avinash Sawant, chief at the regional disaster management cell.
