Two houses gutted in fire in Uttarkashi

UTTARKASHI: Two houses in Uttarkashi’s Suchan Gaon village were gutted in fire on late Wednesday. According to sources, the fire was massive and fortunately the families escaped safely. Meanwhile, a SDRF team reached the spot and managed to put out flames with the help of locals. However, a bull was charred to death. All household items got destroyed till the fire was extinguished.
District disaster management officer Devendra Patwal said, “Fire broke out due to a short circuit. The administration has given Rs 5,000 compensation to the affected families, apart from ration, tents, utensils and other basic help.”
