Fire Destroys Four Rooms At Bachok School

KOTA BAHARU, July 16 (Bernama) — A fire destroyed four rooms at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bachok last night, but classes are not disrupted as none of the classrooms were affected.
The fire, which occurred at 9.55 pm, caused damage estimated at RM150,000, said Senior officer II of the Bachok Fire & Rescue Department, Azmi Ibrahim.
He said the four rooms, located at the school’s old block, were a counselling room, sports room, art & craft room and switchboard room.
Sixteen firemen who rushed there in four trucks from the Bachok and Pengkalan Chepa fire stations as well as volunteer fire-fighters managed to control the fire and prevent it from spreading to buildings nearby, he said.
The fire was extinguished at 11.15 pm, he said when contacted by Bernama today. He said the cause of the fire had yet to be identified, and that investigations were being carried out by the Kota Baharu Fire & Rescue Department.
