Minor fire at LIC building in Chennai

Updated: 2023-04-03

CHENNAI: A minor fire broke out on top of the LIC building on Anna Salai on Sunday evening in which the display board placed on the terrace went up in flames. The fire was put out in 30 minutes and there was no casualty.
A senior official from the Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services (TNFRS) department said that a short circuit in the display board caused the fire. The Anna Salai police have registered a case and an investigation is on.

The fire broke out in the display board that was placed on the terrace atop the 14 floors of the building around 6pm. On an alert, the fire tender vehicles including two sky lifts rushed to the spot. At least 60 fire personnel fought for 30 minutes to put out the fire.
TNFRS Additional Director (Operation and Training) S Vijayasekar who addressed the reporters confirmed that the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit in the display board. TNN
