2 dead, 16 injured in fire after gas leaks from LPG cylinder in UP’s Farrukhabad

KANPUR: A 62-year-old woman and her three-year-old grandson died after they suffered serious burns following a fire due to a gas leak in Bhatasa village in Uttar Pradesh’s Farrukhabad district during the wee hours of Monday.
Nearly 16 others who suffered burns in the fire are being treated at various hospitals.
Police conducting investigations
On being informed, additional superintendent of police Sanjay Kumar reached the spot and gathered information regarding the incident.
Chief medical officer Dr Avnindra Kumar also rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia hospital and supervised the treatment of the injured.
According to police, ‘prasad’ (religious offering) of devi jagran program was being prepared at the house of one Brijbhan Singh Jatav when, following a leak in an LPG cylinder, a fire broke out in the major portion of the house.
Due to the fire, Brijbhan’s wife Shanti Devi and their three-year-old grandson Aryansh suffered serious burns and died on the spot, police said further.
“Nearly, 16 others suffered serious burns. Of them, six injured have been admitted to Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences in Saifai in Etawah. Ten others are undergoing treatment at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital Community Health Centers Nawabganj and Kayamganj,” ASP further said.
