Four from Dungarpur die in fire at Gujarat cracker unit

UDAIPUR: Four persons from Dungarpur district working in a firecracker factory were charred to death when fire broke out in its godown in Modasa district of Gujarat on Thursday.
According to police, the incident took place when fire broke out in a firecracker godown of the factory situated in Lalpura area on Himmatnagar-Modasa highway. The deceased are Lalit (42), Ajay (21), Harish (21) and Ramlal (25), police said.
Eyewitnesses said that some construction work was being carried out on the second floor of the building and all four labourers were working there. Suddenly a blast was heard and the entire premises got engulfed in the fire. The deceased tried to come out of the building but could not succeed.
On information, fire tenders reached the spot and tried to douse the fire. The fire was brought under control on Friday. The bodies were handed over to the family members after post-mortem at Modasa hospital.
