Fire engulfed a coffee shop at Block 59 Marine Terrace on Friday morning, but no injuries or deaths have been reported so far.
Mr Elson Lee, 46, a seller of spare car parts, told The Straits Times that he was on his way to the coffeeshop for breakfast at 8.45am when he saw that two stalls inside the coffee shop had caught fire.
“It was very fierce and very fast. Within five minutes, the fire spread to the rest of the stalls. All of them were burnt so quickly,” he said.
In a statement, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the fire at 9.02am and dispatched a fire bike, a fire engine and two Red Rhinos. The fire involved six stalls and was put out with two water jets in 30 minutes, it added. Police and the SCDF also evacuated 10 residents living upstairs. Investigations are ongoing.
