People evacuated after fire breaks out in bar in Thane

THANE: Residents of a four storeyed building in Upvan area of Thane were evacuated Friday evening following a fire in the generator unit of a bar and restaurant operating at the ground floor of the structure, officials said.
No one was injured in the incident.
Avinash Sawant, chief at the regional disaster management cell informed that the fire was apparently triggered following a minor blast in the generator unit of the Sur Sangeet bar-restaurant operating from the ground floor of the Krishna Towers building in Vartak Nagar ward.
“Passersby complained of hearing an explosion following which they spotted the fire in the generator unit which was spreading. The panicked residents immediately alerted the administration and also evacuated the structure as a precaution. The fire was brought under control within minutes and no injuries reported,” informed Sawant.
