Paroda hill on fire once again

Margao: A forest fire broke out, once more, on Paroda hill late Friday night, creating panic among villagers in the neighbourhood. The blaze kept forest officials and fire brigade personnel on high alert.
However, sources in the fire brigade said inaccessibility of the area, the difficult terrain and the prevailing darkness made it difficult for their personnel to carry out firefighting operations immediately. Nevertheless, they said a close watch is being kept on the fire.
Firefighters have been battling the forest fire on Paroda hill intermittently since it first broke out on Monday. The fire recurs hours after it is completely doused.
Since last Thursday, South Goa has been witness to forest fires. Due to the lack of access for fire tenders, dousing fires has been tough. The hills of Chinchinim, Chapoli, were among those hit by fires.
