Couple suffers injuries in Thane eatery fire caused by gas cylinder leak

THANE: A couple suffered minor burn injuries after their small eatery in Thane’s Rabodi area caught fire due to leakage from a gas cylinder on Tuesday evening.
The injured, identified as Rajpat Yadav (45) and Ratandevi Yadav (45), were operating a chat center in a leased store located near Akash Ganga complex.
While Rajpat suffered minor burns on his hands, his wife received 18 per cent burn injuries, Avinash Sawant, the official from the Regional Disaster Management Cell of Thane Municipal Corporation, said.
The incident occurred at around 5.45pm, he added.
Upon receiving an alert, the fire brigade dispatched water tenders and firefighters to the scene, who promptly extinguished the fire.
The cause of the fire was a cylinder leakage, which resulted in the charring of electronic appliances and other items.
Although the couple was able to escape, they sustained minor injuries.
