Fire at Noida Sector 30 plot simmered for over 18 hours

NOIDA: A fire that broke out at a vacant plot in Sector 30 in Noida on Thursday night continued till Friday afternoon, leaving residents of nearby sectors feeling choked.
Firefighters said that the fire was doused at 2am last night. It started again at 7pm. As many as 20 fire tenders are on the spot to control the blaze.
Apart from Noida, fire brigade teams have also been called from Ghaziabad and Hapur.
There was a fire last night in the dumping ground located in the Sector 32 A area of Noida. It is alleged that anti-social elements set the dumping ground on fire. After getting the information, the local police team and fire brigade team reached the spot.
Pradeep Kumar Dubey, the chief fire officer, said: “Presently our 300 staffers are deployed at the spot to douse the fire. Water is being sprayed from all sides, to ensure that the fire does not spread further. Some help has also been sought from some private agencies”,
Due to the fire, the pollution level in Noida, increased rapidly, complained local residents.
“Such dumping grounds in the middle of the city are a great threat to the residents apart from causing major damage to the environment. The fire has been uncontrollable till now despite several fire brigades working continuously since last night”, said Tarunima Bajpai, who lives in Sector 51.
