20 two-wheelers gutted as huge fire breaks out outside civil court premises in Lucknow; ‘tangled wires’ blamed

LUCKNOW: A huge fire broke out outside the civil court premises of Lucknow district on Tuesday noon. The fire broke out due to a short-circuit caused in tangled wires of the electric pole outside gate number 2 and soon spread to the vehicles parked on the roadside, said the police.Before firemen could reach and douse the flames as many as 20 two-wheelers perished in the fire.
Later, lawyers staged a protest demanding full compensation for their losses and alleging that they had given a complaint in the past to LESA and LMC for removing the tangled wires, but all fell on deaf ears.
A police team, headed by additional DCP West Zone, and SHO, Wazirganj, reached the spot and pacified the protesting lawyers assuring them of action.
“I was in my chamber when I spotted people rushing outside and sometimes saw black fire flames emanating outside the court premises. I immediately rushed outside and found that two-wheelers parked outside had caught fire including my new bike,” said Narendra Pratap Mishra, a lawyer at the court premises.
While, another lawyer Mohammed Yazdaan Khan, who had run after spotting fire in the wire and altered the staff which brought out a fire extinguisher but to no avail. 
“The fire was so wild that it rapidly spread and engulfed the two-wheelers parked outside,” he said.
Chief fire officer, Lucknow, Mangesh Kumar, said that around 1.02 pm they first received a call about the fire. “A team reached the spot and doused the flames in 20 minutes,” said Kumar.
ADCP West Zone, CN Sinha, said that the situation was under control and they were helping firemen in removing the rubble.
