Short circuit sparks fire in Gzb house
Updated: 2023-05-24
GHAZIABAD: A fire broke out in a doctor’s flat in Kaushambi on Tuesday afternoon. The fire department suspects a short circuit. No casualty was reported and three fire tenders were used to douse the flame.
The flat in the Shivalik apartment that caught fire is owned by Dr Naresh Sen, who is a practicing doctor in Delhi’s private hospital. He was away when the house caught fire. His daughter and house help who were present in the house, escaped during the incident.
Rahul Pal, chief fire officer (CFO) said that the residents of the society informed the fire department at around 3.15pm that flat number 705 on the 7th floor is on fire. “Immediately fire tenders were sent along with firefighters. Three fire tenders were used to douse the flame and the situation came under control within 30 minutes,” he said.
“At the time of the incident, the doctor’s daughter and house helper were inside. The fire started due to a short circuit in the fridge, which was located in the drawing room, and immediately the curtains, books, and other things caught fire. The girl and her house help ran out and informed the society’s maintenance department along with other residents,” he said.
With the summer setting in, fire incidents have increased these days, mostly due to short circuits. On May 19, a fire broke out at a house in the Vijay Nagar area. Five fire engines were used to douse the flame and no injuries were reported.
